High school football programs across the Dallas area are shifting focus to conference play as Week 3 begins. While smaller districts typically enjoy several weeks of non-conference games before their standings matter for playoff eligibility, larger districts must establish their identity more quickly.
District 6-4AI features nine Dallas ISD schools: Carter, Conrad, Kimball, Lincoln, North Dallas, Pinkston, Roosevelt, Spruce, and Wilmer-Hutchins. Most of these programs previously competed in District 8-4AI before the University Interscholastic League's recent biennial realignment. Spruce is a new addition to this group after moving down from District 5-5AII last season.
In the previous cycle, Carter, Kimball, Lincoln, and Pinkston qualified for the playoffs, with the first three finishing their conference schedules at 6-1. The Dallas Morning News selected Lincoln as the likely district champion heading into this season.
District 4-5AII has undergone significant changes after being labeled the "new District of Doom" following the 2024 realignment. The nine-team group now includes Anna, Celina, Denison, Frisco, Frisco Emerson, Frisco Independence, Frisco Memorial, Frisco Panther Creek, and Prosper Richland. Notable additions include nine-time state champion Celina and former power Frisco Panther Creek. Prosper Richland, which opened in 2025, is playing its first UIL season.
Former district powers Lovejoy, Melissa, and Prosper Walnut Grove departed after the 2026 realignment. The Dallas Morning News picked Anna to win the district, with Anna set to open play against Frisco Panther Creek this week.
