Raydrick Lee, 33, has been booked into the Dallas County Jail on a felony arson charge following an incident at the Buena Vista Apartments in Oak Cliff. According to Dallas Fire Rescue, Lee was injured in the blaze and transported to a hospital for treatment prior to his arrest. Authorities state that the fire was intentionally started following a domestic dispute.
Fire crews responded to the 3900 block of Altoona Drive at 12:27 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they found heavy flames emerging from the front and side of the two-story building. Firefighters worked for nearly two hours to extinguish the blaze, declaring the fire out at 1:55 a.m.
Investigators determined that Lee deliberately set the fire, which resulted in moderate to significant damage to four units within the two-story structure. All 24 residents, comprising 13 adults and 11 children, escaped the building safely but were displaced from their homes. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to those affected by the incident.
