Dallas Trinity FC has appointed Lee Nguyen as its new first-team manager and technical director. The club announced the hiring on July 3, marking a significant leadership change for the women’s soccer organization.
Nguyen, a native of Richardson, Texas, brings extensive experience from his playing and coaching careers. As a player, he competed in Major League Soccer for 17 seasons, making over 250 appearances for the New England Revolution, LAFC, and Inter Miami CF. He was also a member of the United States Men’s National Team, earning nine caps. His coaching background includes serving as an assistant coach for Seattle Reign FC and leading the Washington Spirit to the 2021 NWSL Championship.
Brian Corcoran, sporting director for Atlético Dallas, which owns Trinity FC, described the appointment as an important moment for the club. Corcoran stated that the ownership group prioritized hiring local talent and found Nguyen’s vision for building a winning culture compelling. He noted that Nguyen’s deep roots in the community and respect within the soccer world made him an ideal fit for leading the club into its next phase.
Nguyen’s connection to North Texas runs deep. He played youth soccer for the Dallas Texans and attended Plano East Senior High School before playing college soccer at Indiana University. During the pandemic, he returned to the area to coach girls’ teams for the Dallas Texans, an experience that helped transition him from playing to coaching. He is also a dual U.S.-Vietnamese citizen and was the first American to play in Vietnam’s top professional league.
The club confirmed that previous first-team manager Nathan Thackeray and technical director Chris Petrucelli have departed their roles. Nguyen becomes the third first-team manager in Trinity FC’s history.
