The statewide average in Texas stands at $3.3350, while the national average is $3.8470. Motorists in the Dallas area are paying less than the state average and less than the national average.

Gas prices in the Dallas area have fallen substantially from their highs. Prices have dropped about 47 cents over the past month, driven by lower crude oil costs and strong refinery output. Compared to a year ago, when the state average was $2.7470, drivers are now paying about 59 cents more per gallon.
