Texas Instruments Inc. has introduced the TPS7A94, a new linear power supply component designed for precision analog systems. The device is part of the TPS7A9x family and targets applications requiring stable power rails, such as data converters, sensors, and radio frequency circuits. The company positions the part for use in industrial and medical designs where signal integrity is critical.

The regulator delivers an output noise density of 0.46 microvolts RMS across a frequency range of 10 Hz to 100 kHz. It also provides power-supply rejection ratios exceeding 80 dB at specific frequencies. These specifications aim to support high-resolution analog-to-digital converters and sensitive amplifiers. The device accepts input voltages up to 36 volts and can supply up to 1 ampere of output current. Dropout voltage begins at approximately 260 millivolts under moderate load conditions.

Texas Instruments states the TPS7A94 uses an internal reference and noise-reduction circuitry to minimize output noise. The company recommends specific printed circuit board layouts to maintain performance, including short, wide traces and tight decoupling capacitors. Designers are advised to use separate analog ground regions and high-quality ceramic capacitors to avoid inductive traces. The component is available in compact packages, including an HVSSOP and a thermally enhanced VQFN with an exposed pad.

The manufacturer highlights potential uses in precision measurement equipment, automated test gear, and medical imaging front ends. These systems often utilize 16- to 24-bit converters, where low noise levels help preserve effective resolution. The regulator is also noted for use in communications infrastructure, providing clean power for radio frequency local oscillators and mixers. An application note from the company illustrates the device feeding high-performance analog-to-digital converters and low-noise amplifiers to reduce supply-induced error.

Texas Instruments markets the TPS7A94 as part of its broader precision analog and power portfolio. The company provides detailed thermal metrics and layout guidance in its datasheet. Specific pricing and widespread availability details were not included in the initial product announcement.

Texas Instruments Inc. is one of Dallas's largest employers, with about 7,704 local employees, according to local government records.
