Dallas, Texas — The Cowboys have added former quarterback Will Grier as an offensive assistant, with his new duties set to begin when training camp opens next week.
Grier, 31, retired as a player after spending this offseason with Carolina. Dallas confirmed the coaching move Friday; ESPN separately reported that he had stopped playing earlier this month.
The West Virginia product entered the NFL as Carolina’s third-round pick in 2019. He later had two stints with the Cowboys, largely working in preseason and on practice squads.
The appointment reunites Grier with coach Brian Schottenheimer and quarterback Dak Prescott. The team has not announced a broader change to its offensive coaching structure.
